Meet Aja, Hustle Ambassador
My name is Aja Jackson and I found solace and joy in Mountain Biking during the pandemic and it has since become a staple in my life. During the day, I develop and manage employee experience initiatives for Baylor Scott & White Health.
I find joy in serving as a Hustle bike ambassador; I can relate to the founders story and the desire to share knowledge and make improvements from our own personal challenges. I’ve been searching for the perfect middle ground between clipless and flats and have found comfort and agility with my magnet pedals.
I strive to create opportunities for women and pave the way so they can experience first-hand all of mountain biking's unique thrills while feeling empowered by their accomplishments. In 2023 I will be launching the Empower Cycling Network, an engaging series of conversations that celebrates the inspiring stories of female cyclists across all styles of riding. Through candid conversations, riders will open up about their cycling lifestyle, while also sharing personal stories and interests that drive them on and off the trails.

What Shoes Should I Wear?
We designed the Avery REMtech™ pedals to work with a 2-bolt clipless shoe. There are a few shoes we recommended that work best with the pedals. A couple of them are Five Ten Hellcats & Ride Concepts Transitions or Hellions. How Do I Release from the Pedals?
REMtech® Pedals are most powerful in a north/south (straight up/down) direction on the pedals. When you start to move east/west the force of the REMmagnets decreases and it is easier to step out. You’re never “locked in” as with a clipless pedal: Only magnetic force is holding your foot to the REMtech®, and you can pull off in almost any direction. So there’s no muscle memory that needs to be trained, and releasing is completely intuitive and natural, unlike clipless pedals.
Is There Any Float with the Pedals?
Rotational float is nearly unlimited because, unlike clipless pedals, your foot can rotate freely on the pedal body without affecting the magnetic force. And side-to-side float is also far greater than with clipless: While the magnetic pull decreases when the REMplate™ moves out of direct alignment with the REMtech® Pedals, you’ll still benefit from the magnetic pull, albeit in a reduced amount.
